For those who need specific and individualized guidance, one-on-one counseling appointments with highly trained volunteer Community Resource Specialist provide encouragement, support, problem-solving, goal-setting and referral information. Community Resource Specialists meet one-on-one with women to clarify objectives and develop action plans to access community resources in order to meet specific needs without fostering dependency. Services are designed for each woman to improve and leverage her own abilities to address the root cause of her difficulties (e.g., underemployment), rather than simply continuing to deal with the "symptoms" (e.g., can't afford school clothes). Critical to the success of Community Information Services and Community Resource Counseling is the provision of real-time, up-to-date information regarding resources, programs and services positioned to help. Due diligence ensures that women who are already in distress will not be sent to access services they are not eligible for or are no longer available.
